Thailand 2010

Sawadeeka!

I had been to nowhere else in Thailand except Bangkok many times but the thought of going each time never fail to excite me. What else other than Shopping?!! Bangkok, being one of the leader for wholesale trade has really atrocious rate when it comes to merchandise. I used to think GOD i am so stupid to spend 3 or 4 times more in Sg paying for the same quality! Especially t-shirts like cartoons, graffiti, cheat brand and more more. Paying for like S$4 you can get pretty decent t-shirts where Sg might be selling $19.90 worse when we still think is damn good buy! fol.

Given the cheap air ticket and lodging, many shop owners will often fly to Bangkok for 3 days just to sweep the goods for 3 or 4 months. If you buy 3 pcs and above, usually they will charge you wholesale price i.e very cheap, i believe many online fashioners work closely with them as well.

Food, I would say not so much for my liking. And one thing i can't stand was they like to eat inside their shop, i understand they do not have the luxury to eat in a  proper eating place. But just imagine in a cluttered sq area where clothes are everywhere, their food really gives off a smell that puts me off and most the time i have to hold my breathe when browsing. I know i sound like a bitch, its the fact but i did not show a disgusted face nor storm out of the store shouting "jiu ming ah"! Their food just has this smell which i think is basil or some leaves used to cook in their every dish. Their beverages and dessert is also damn "ti" in hokkien, not pig but sweet like your new lover.

Well, sometime pictures are best to explain a million words~

Quiet airport. Taking a 6.30am Tiger airway to Bangkok.

First time in many times of travelling with tiger, flight got re-scheduled. Luckily only 30 mins!

Currently Budget airport only cater for 3 airlines.

Our luggage! Hollow go and filled back!

Need some food to perk up the sleepy state of mind.

Usual kopitiam breakfast~

Waiting patiently for Jenny to finish her stick~

Then we decided to check in & explore inside!~
Candy shop! Pick & Mix in Sg Flyer mode~

We then came across this game called "Rub & Scratch" I had seen it at terminal 3.
First, chose a blank paper

Then they have many wooden blocks with different design carved in it.

Chose one and this is mine!

Place the blank paper nicely on top.
 Then chose your preferred colour~

I chosed Green as in grass!

And Pink as in my fav colour! Heez~

Tadang!~ colour the way you want it to show! Be sure to press down the paper tight...

Waiting area with cosy sofas, tv and internet for people to kill time.

The bad of budget airline is they don't provide meal! But I love airplane food can~ ~ Niao! =_=
So we decided to swallow something at the high class kopitiam before boarding!~

黑豆蒸排骨

糯米鸡

怕肥也要吃!

Alright, time for boarding!

The runway to the boarding gate, so like hospital...

Hee hee, take a pic! Jenny is busying reading the DFS catalogue?

That's our plane as in not the one we were sitting on literally but same family lah!~

Beautiful sunrise... <3

My leg space. fml =x

Here we are, Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International airport!

Red: Finally, after much dumping and collision...

So shagz after 2 hrs of stationary posture~

Eateries at the airport. Not much selection though.

We decided to eat Thai food at Eat-tion restaurant. Price consider cheaper among those but very small sq area.
Singha Beer Dispenser. Saw the mangos? It's for some kind of offerings. Their mangoes are damn ti~

What else except Phad Thai to kick off the day. Woohoo~

Tom Yum Gung~ You don't think i will only have it once do you? *wink*

A must-have condiment tray on their dining table. Consists of sugar, fresh cut chilli soaked in vinegar i think, yu lu aka fish sauce & chilli powder.

See, i've got a heart-shape straw mushroom.. It's like saying "welcome to thailand"? Hahaha~

After much savoury, it's time to head to our hotel. The journey is about 30 mins depends on the traffic condition. Bangkok's traffic is a killer man! Be sure you ask the price before hoping into any taxi, the taxi culture is either a fix price preset or like us, by meter.

We've got a nice red cabby who helped us with the luggage even we are not pretty gu niang. But he is going to spit afterwards for getting only 20 baht tips!~ wakaka

Camwhoring with ah jen laughing at me or rather my stylishness!~ =D

Joy is BMW~ That's the so-called tallest building BESIDE our hotel, it's called the "Bayoike Sky Hotel" We are fortunate to be living in it's "daughter" Baiyoke Boutique Hotel! Same location but half the price ok! Smart ass i am~ Opps, what i wanted to say was, we saw this building after abt 5 mins of driving, very near right? But it took us another 25 mins to reach! Ahhh, Bangkok traffic~

Hotel Lobby~Look grand what!
Bladder so full, chiong to toilet and saw something very interesting, so this is the legendary boutique hotel... Heez heez~

Ladies

Gents

We reached the hotel at 10am and offical check in time is 2pm. According to hotel recep, early check-in need to top up 500baht (abt S$21.5). Even shopaholics with pea sized brain would know to better use that money! Without much thinking, we left our baggage at the lobby and head to the shopping mall near our hotel, Indra Square. Just a 3 mins walk from hotel, there is a huge market called "Pratunam market"selling tons tons of clothings etc.

Weather at thailand that time was scorching hot during the day, raining during night.~Duhz
Moment we stepped into the mall, something catches our sight! *blink blink

SWENSON!! Woolala~~ came here a few times before. Unlike sg, here sells ice-cream ONLY. The price is at least half cheaper than sg, no joke wor~

Bright vibrant deco with appealing mouth-watering ice-cream pictures!

Swenson cup for serving drinking water. An impulse to "kop" it, but didn't la. Don't wanna get chase by thai police, skali get caught, don't know what will they do to me? Sell me as prostitute who gets 10baht/day or cripple my limbs and throw into the streets as beggar?!~~ Sho scary...

Ah jen's cuppa~ Crockery too bright la.

Banana Split~ Hmm, actually taste is so-so only.

Dunkin Donuts is everywhere~

Indra Square is quite expensive therefore we decided to venture out to legendary wholesale heaven aka The Platinum Fashion mall. Its only 10 mins walk from our hotel, but of course we(lu chi) took longer than that... =_=''

Time flies man!, havent start our buying spree and it's 2pm. Check in time! lalala~~

Boutique hotel means think out of the box. Bold colours yet simple furnishing.

2 single bed for 2 single ladies~~Woohoo! Hee hee

Huge mirror to create spacey feeling and nice wall colour, purple is one of my fav la.

Though cheap, basic amenities is never neglected... *wink*

Pink hair dryer in pink woven basket! Omg, sweet can!

Hotel Lift. Again purple, aww...
By the way, hotel as mentioned earlier i staying at was Baiyoke Boutique hotel surrounded by Baiyoke Suite & Baiyoke Sky hotel. They belong to the same entities, boutique is the cheapest compare to the other 2 and it's the newest among them. Downside is probably no swimming pool bah, but guest are allow to use the pool and gym from Baiyoke Suite. Hee hee, win win situation, yeah!

One of the biggest mall in Bangkok. Not as good as i used to think, the prices escalated yet design still remains. But wide selection of cuisine.

One of their traditional sweet snack. A thin crisp(like our "min jiang kuay") top with white thingy and coconut shreds.

I forgotten the name, according to ah jen the taste is like marshmallow and super sweet!! She said till the last bite she've got toothache! haha, luckily i didn't try.

This shoe shop forever here, forever 199baht but pattern also forever same. CMI already. I used to craze over this shop and can pick like 8 pairs? No more already...

I was sick throughout the trip & didn't want to spread to others...

After MBK, we decided to take MRT back to hotel. Very cheap & quite fast.

Looks like everyone is quietly sitting down...

Clear signage for easy understanding.

Look what we've caught! lol

My loot for the first day... Could be more if not for my illness...=(

Street hawker de oyster egg. Might not look appealing but tasted good even though we ate 1.5hr after we buy.

Ice monster is an ice shop which offera a variety of fruits dessert. I ordered Honeydew + watermelon, i tell you this is really really good...

The ice was coated with condensed milk but not too sweet. The fruits were really fresh and juicy. We went back and have it for second time. =p

This is Pratunam market just beside our hotel.

Another view of tallest building Baiyoke Sky- Joy is up!

Saw this man crawling along the crowded street begging for money...

In Thailand, many were street hawkers or vendor.

I heard that Thailand has more self-employed people. Maybe they all like to be bosses of their own? lol

Saw a DHL near our hotel. Must be for those who buy too much and need to air-freight home! haha

Alley lead to our hotel. Can be quite quiet at night...

Front door of our hotel.

Cool black vending machine.

Still got buggy to drive people around the vicinity.

Took a tuk tuk to Khao San Road. The fastest transport in Thailand, they will ride/drive you around like it's their own road. Take at your own risk.. *hee hee*

A mask is a must-have. Carbon monoxide is more poisonous in Thailand.

Either they chit-chat if friend, or they will ogle at each other's tuk tuk as if comparing whose tuk's more hip!

Nice shocking pink cab.

Saw this cool bike along Khao San street market.

Then, it's dinner time! Ah jen say she wants to try (larger amount) street food, though i strongly disagree but gave in somehow so we sat down along a very shabby rundown street zhe char.

Haha, Tom Yam Gung again.

Kang kong. They called it morning glory, but did not remove the thorns properly so i didn't eat much.

Chicken green curry. Look very different from what i expected. Taste coconuty.

Best part was the rice. Best because was leftover the most. Hard like stone!

Had mango glutinous rice at another stall. about $1.20 this portion. Not very nice also, mango too ripe.

Condensed milk and butter on toast. Crispy & hot, not too bad taste.

Went into a coffee house named "Cafe World" simply because they have free wifi. Heez...

After Khao San Road, we proceed to Suan luam night market. Its a place with a food, live band and more night shopping!

Pandan leave chicken-another ah jen must-try Thai food. Chicken meat was quite tender with pandan leave fragrance.

Relaxing, drinking beer enjoying the live band right at the front.

Hawaiian pizza. I always order this whenever i am here. So nice till i couldn't wait to take a pic before indulging.

Mango gultinous rice again. But surely you can judge this is so much nicer than the previous i had. Mango & rice fresh like what! Woo~ I am still missing this...

Ah jen's fresh coconut.

=)

Love the pizza, hate the pimple(s).

Loot for second day worse than first day because sickness was too.

Haha while uploading the photos, nearly forgot about the breakfast at hotel taken using iphone! There you go...

Cute pepper and salt shaker. Another made in Thailand product, was selling very cheap there.

Congee with maggie soya sauce!

Toast. A few varieties, wholemeal, bagette, croisssant.

Nice breakfast overall.

For you, yes no?

VIP of the day, came out only last hr of the breakfast! Luckily we sat down long enough. Hee hee~

Lastly, had a bowl of cereal. =)

Beautiful ceiling light...

After breakfast, we went to Jatujak Market. They only open during the weekends, the weather and crowd was madness!~

Saw this promote water campaign. I was thinking the figurine must be heat-stroke!

After a super hot and crazy day at Jatujak, we went to MBK for lunch at almost 3pm! faint~

Sumo restaurant with 3 different cuisines~thai, western and japanese!

Zen menu~

I love japanese food and don't care people say you must eat local food!

Fresh salad with tangerine wafu dressings.

Grilled saba fish with mushroom, brocolli & baby carrots.

Safest drink in thailand.

They have this booth where it have all the shops location and discount. Simply take the card to the respective store and enjoy the offer!

MBK food court. Only found it at the last day because it was situated on the highest floor.

It's like our funfair canival. You need to purchase coupons but it is refundabe.

I ordered the famous red ruby with red bean. Tasted normal nia~

Ah jen ordered this pork zhu chang fen with.....BASIL leave. She can eat it FRESH. *FAINTED*

The pork is like uncook? I plucked my utmost ball courage and had one... =x

After the horrible eating experience, we finally went for our FIRST massage in Bangkok at the LAST day>>>becos ah jen jie scare to massage...
After massage, we wanted to eat the street food like grilled tiger prawns and sweet corns. But who knows raining!!!! Boohoohoo~~~~ All the street vendors "chao lor" liao... =...(

So bobian, we went back hotel to eat their cafe food...

White rice nice rice.

Green curry again with baby brinjal...

Tom Yam Gung again again again! lol

Vegeterian spring roll. Nice and crispy.

All  bathe, took a panadol and ready to Zzz. Going back tomorrow lor!

Side note: Finally managed to "snatch" french toast during the last breakfast!

Planning to spend my last baht before flying back. Was at overhead bridge and took this photo. Look at their colourful cabbies and chaotic traffic.
Our last lunch at Bangkok was Black Canyon Coffee house. The concept like starbuck except they sell wide varieties of food. Their franchise outlets are so many that you could bump into one everywhere!

Wall.

Rubber coasters. Lousy coaster that store water and super stucky to the table.(that's why ah jen spilled her lemon grass drink? =p)

Damn cute kopi in booties!

My Green tea milkshake.

Guess what i've for lunch??

White rice only??
Nah! Tadang!!

Tom Yum Gung! (i promise this will be the last =p)

Their ingredients mostly are prawns and straw mushroom. River prawns are everywhere and cheap.

We shared this buffulo wings. Yummy!

Ah jen had some pasta.=x

Time to leave for airport...

Bye!

At airport, ah jen wants to drink some liquor! So we went to the same restaurant  as the first day. She ordered a cocktail coconut  pinalaco/pinaco/pilaco(forgotten simi name lah). Due to miscommunication, they served 2 of those! I told her i can't drink so she finished them all, poor jenny! =(

Papaya salad. Look at the raw vegetable, i surrender!

We managed to finish the peanuts though...=p

Overall was quite a fun and 'sickly' experenice. Though i wasn't feeling too well, still managed to brace myself up and do shopping! But i guess will not be visiting Bangkok in near future...

 BYE BYE!
